A quick report from today. Launched from Mornington at 8am and picked up 1 good size calamari ~25cm hood in the first cast, then off to Fishies beach for the high tide at 9ish.
FIrst few minutes, rods buckled and landed some 30-35cm pinkies on whole silver whiting, also dropped a few. Slowed down a bit after the first 2 fish, but picked up 2 more pinkies until after high tide when it went quiet. Also caught a nice wrasse. Moved out deep afterwards but couldn't even find the flatties.
Here's a video under the boat. Still looking for a red filter. Still saw heaps of fish though, but water vis wasn't great today. Neither was the air quality though, it got worse in the afternoon.

Nice one mate ~ how deep are you fishing, and are you right on fishies beach or a little further south?
Had a crack yesterday with no luck around the mussel farm area.

Fishing 10-12m on the drop offs today, closer to Mornington pier. Heard good reports from the mussel farm area recently though. Maybe try Morrisons Reef, anchor right next to one of the big rocks.

Re: Fishies beach today
Dont really need to go far from shore there. When I fish fishies beach, it's pretty much to the left close to the rock cliffs. Squid there and wrasse whiting etc. Pinkies and flatties further out a bit.
