Re: WA Salmon
I'm going in two weeks and even better one of the clients wants to go fishing. I brought myself a 904 nano travel rod to take with me. I'm going to be in Perth so not sure where to fish, only beach I have been to is down at Cottesloe.
Cast, catch and put it back

Re: WA Salmon
Not all Vic sambos are small. I got this one a few years ago from the rocks at Cape Woolamai.
Went around 75cm, from memory, and around 3-4kgs?

Re: WA Salmon
On the money mingle. I had a 76cm that went 4.6kg last year in SA, but that was a very fat fish.mingle wrote:Not all Vic sambos are small. I got this one a few years ago from the rocks at Cape Woolamai.

Re: WA Salmon
Corringle Beach (amongst others) in East Gippsland regularly produces big salmon up to and sometimes over 4kg. There's also the odd tailor to 5kg that turns up in the schools, too. I've never caught one that big, but have personally caught salmon to 3.4 kg / 70cm off the beach there.

Re: WA Salmon
Mainly fish there between July and November. Top spot, close gutters and plenty of beach to share. Fav spot in Aus. Been 2 years since I was there last but fished there every year for about 20 years. Fish with patternooster rig with blue & silver wet fly or white mr twister on the bottom and whole pilchard on the top(seems to catch less sand crab that way IMO)
