Sinker sizes
I was in BCF today and picked up a pack of 'size 8' snapper sinkers for a trip to Lang Lang tomorrow thinking they'd be 8oz. Turns out they're only 5oz which is pretty annoying.
Anyone know what weight each 'size' is? Why on earth wouldn't they include the weight on the packet?

Re: Sinker sizes
I think he means the ones where the packets says "size no8" on the label, and it doesnt actually relate to the oz of the sinker.Fish-cador wrote:28 grams per oz

Re: Sinker sizes
My problem is the size they give on the packets seems to have no relation to any measurement. These were called 'size 8', but they weigh 5oz or 141g so I'm not sure what the size is referring to. Maybe I'll have to bring a set of scales in and weigh them myself.

Re: Sinker sizes
Actually doing a bit of hunting around on the net suggests that not only does the 'size' have no relation to the weight, it varies between sinker types, and it varies from manufacturer to manufacturer. Starting to think I should just make my own.

Re: Sinker sizes
some companies state what weight they are on the pack as well but for the most part it just means that it is bigger than the size smaller which is super dodgy and not at all useful

Re: Sinker sizes
Buying sinker packets in CBF is the problem. Even some general stores sell individual sinkers by ounces

Re: Sinker sizes
The size 5 stars are a different weight to the size 5 snapper leads.
It's irritating.
I think possibly for the first time ever I agree with Cobby. Find a tackleshop that sells individual weighted listed sinkers (TW mornington does) or make your own.
