Glad you got somethingmatewem21 wrote:Hi guys,
Saturday I was free for the whole day, so I got out of bed a little early and went to beaumauris pier. I was there from 7:30 - 9:30, and went there with some plastics and squid jigs. A few awesome blokes were catching gars, and they were getting a lot as well. I didn't bring my gar outfit, so I stuck to lures. I caught a nice bream at 32cm, no pics cos it was pretty beat up and I wanted to get it back in ASAP. There was a school of squid around 15-20cm hanging around the pier but I couldn't temp them into taking one of my jigs, similarly with a school of salmon that was feeding on some baitfish. I also caught a KGW at 34cm, which was a nice surprise
All fish caught on a zman 2.5inch grub in Watermelon Red
Later in the day I went to Brighton, and was there for 2 hours, leaving just before the big blow. Nobody was catching anything but I caught a pinky at 20cm and missed a few other bites. I might switch to a smaller lure...
Lure used: 4inch zman streaks curly tail in Bad Shad.
Cheers
Good effort

Re: Brighton Pier mega land based fishing thread
Hi mate I have caught many squid on the left side in front of the baths up to the first shelter and also from the breakwall. Pinkies from the break wall as well. Flatties and salmon with plastics too :thumbsup:FishHunter81 wrote:I'm going to try Brighton pier today. Will be my first time. Been reading threads on breakwall as a target area? Anyone have tips for where to also target squid there and other species tips be appreciated as I'll be new here.

Took advantage of the nice weather and went for a land based sesh this morning, fished for about 3 hours for nothing but a plastic with a missing tail. A young Asian teenager managed to catch a micro-pinky but nobody else caught anything.

Re: Brighton Pier mega land based fishing thread
hows brighton been fishing recently? seems pretty dead report wise, nothing more than a few banjos and micropinkies. squid should have turned up in the nicer weather but i haven't heard a thing.
i'm glad i've managed to avoid brighton so far this summer. usually hell this time of year.

I'm not having any luck there , I'm doing better further south at sandy and mordi, I've at least caught legal fish there in the last few weekscroe04 wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 11:20 amhows brighton been fishing recently? seems pretty dead report wise, nothing more than a few banjos and micropinkies. squid should have turned up in the nicer weather but i haven't heard a thing.

I was catching a few legal pinkies from the rocks (and lots of smaller ones) pre-Xmas. Caught a 48cm flatty there two days ago in my first fish at Brighton this year; it did seem quieter than usual though i.e. no pinkies at all.
