Giant stingray fishing
Well a little while ago I went out with Torpy who runs the Landbased Legends Facebook page as we managed to hook up to and catch (well as best we could) a Giant Stingray. While it is not everyones favourite thing it was a great experence with its highs and lows.
This was done at Corinella Jetty and was the second time I have been to the place.
Before the massive ray we caught a pike and a few nice size squid that were seen darting around in the early morning.
When trying to get the big ray in it was super hard because of all the weed.
A big shout out to the boat owners that helped by going around us (fight started on the jetty and ended up near the boat ramp with lots of running in between) as we could not have done it without your patients! At no point did we lile being in that situation/location fighting it.
For those concerned about the new rules about this species: It was confirmed with fisheries that the rules only relate to the 'taking' of stingrays and it is still legal practice to catch and release them (unharmed) in the location we did.
I am more of a video person then a photo one so see the video here if interested:
