Middle beach Merimbula
Spent a few days at Merimbula. Fished middle beach most mornings and every morning turned it on.
One morning brained 1kg plus tailor. Lost count of how many. Lost a few lures but fishing was frenetic with many fish around 2kg
Next morning big salmon showed up with gannets and other seabirds working the entire beach. Picked up this monster on a lure. Don't know how big but the bloke who took the picture reckons 5kg. Plenty in the 2kg+ bracket.
Only bummer was that I snapped the top section on my nitro messiah trying to cast to the horizon!

Sure was. Nearly wrenched the rod out of my hands when it struck, then proceeded to race up and down the beach. Few hairy moments in the shore break when it refused to come in but managed to beach him on a good wave.
Was caught on a 50gm black mackerel lazer (Carl recommended some time back). This and the 35gm version were getting smashed.
Spent a couple of days at Lakes Entrance on the way home and hit up ninety mile beach. After the action at Merimbula, to say it was disappointing is an understatement.
