Donuts on the Mitchell
Hi All. I had a bit of time to kill, it was a nice day and I had some preserved sandworms left in the fridge from last season so I thought I will give the Mitchell a go. There have been lots of cars parked by the river bank lately, maybe tourists still to go home from the school holidays or perhaps ...

Re: Motorised Jockey Wheel
I have not tried a motorised wheel, but I did give a hand cranked ratchet wheel a go in the past. The problem I had was there is not much weight on the jockey wheel so there was insufficient traction to move the trailer about much. I ended up throwing it out in the hard rubbish.

Re: Quick dive at pyramid rock yesterday
Sounds like a good dive, regrettably, these days medical issues stop me diving, but I did manage to get a crayfish once when I could dive. I was spearfishing off St Andrews and just shot a sweep which are pretty good eating as it happens. My float line got a bit tangled so I let the sweep and spear ...

Re: Leader line length
I start with about 1.25 m and when it is about 0.75 m I start again. I am mostly fishing SP's for duskie's and this seems to work Ok. Actually I am not getting many this year (East Gippy) because the water has just not warmed up, maybe they are still up river? Plenty of whiting around to keep me hap...

Paynesville Report
Hi everyone, I went out from Paynesville yesterday morning to have another go at the whiting. I fished around the Carstairs Bank area, after a few moves I found the whiting, however, they were pretty small, only 25 - 30cm. After about 4 hours and plenty of throw backs, I ended up with 6 keepers. It ...

Another go at the KG Whiting from Paynesville
With the excellent settled autumn weather and the holiday crowds thinning out a bit it was time to get the boat back in the water so I went out from Paynesville this morning for another go at the KG whiting. Out at 8.00am, in at 10.15 am with 10 whiting. The first one I caught was 38 cm or so which ...

Re: Another go at the KG Whiting from Paynesville
3 m is too deep, try 1.5 to 2 m, look for a bit of weed and try using mussels for bait. You will have to hold your rod because otherwise the whiting will steal the mussel every time. Move around, give each spot 10-15 mins, if no bites then move on, only 100-300m each time until you find them. Once y...

More KG Whiting form Paynesville
Hi all, I went out from Paynesville around 8.00am this morning to have another go at the KG whiting. At the first spot I tried, not a touch, I moved and again not a touch, after 5 or so moves this was becoming very familiar, then I decided to have a go in the shallower areas, 1.6m or so and the bite...
