The Boat of Your Dreams!

Post by SteveoTheTiger » Fri Apr 17, 2020 11:21 pm

A very hypothetical question, recent posts about rebuilt Haines Hunters and $100k Stabicraft and endless hours to scour boatsales got me thinking... or is that got me dreaming. :ch:

You just won lotto, the minister of finance has given you the thumbs up and you start searching for your dream boat.. what would you pick?

Obviously it is impossible to narrow down to one single boat but i have always really liked the Grand Banks 42 Classic trawler style. I remember reading my dads Trader Boat magazine back in the 80's thinking how great it would be to cruise around on one. There are a lot of modern boats around that must have been inspired by the Grand Banks, such as Fleming, Palm Beach or even Dickies from NZ (check these out if you arent aware of them), but i still go back to dreaming of a Grand Banks.

I also waste a lot of time watching sailing videos and my ultimate dream would be to have my own 35 or so foot sailboat and sail to where ever i want. Something like an S&S 34 would do the trick, many circumnavigations have been made in the design. Back to reality and i settled for a Jayco Swan with the misses. So my cruising all happens on land. :tu:

Realistically, i am thinking a Surtees 540 Workmate Hardtop, is not out of the question a few years down the track.

Feel free to post your own dream, or tear mine apart (i wont be offended).

No ones dream should be torn apart. Whatever makes you happy mate

Mine is a Pursuit boats OS 385. Nothing really compares to the American glass boats in my opinion.

Probably a 750 game king, if not one of the top of the range cooters, bass or edens

Ideally 1 of each

Did this recently in a group chat. Best 3 boats to do anything in and a tow rig.

Great range there ducky

Those Spencers are nice and just a smidgen up from the Riviera Boats BUT how could we forget the Tow Vehicle :-D

Those F Series Fords are Nice :tu:

Any reason why The Chevy Silverado (2500 or better still the 3500) wasn't the pick?

I forgot all about Black Watch. Maybe the ultimate game fishing rig?

Bug, that Clayton reminds me a lot of a Trophy 2359 which is definitely another favourite of mine. There is currently one for sale in Williamstown for $90k.

And something to tow them.. i guess it would have to be the big brother of my Ranger, an F150.
