The Journey of Snapper hunting of Jasonfish1234
On Warmies, Monday 30 of September 2019 the wind is South Western and High tide is coming at 3:40pm. I arrive at warmies at 12:45pm with my telescopic rod brand Jarvis walker series water-rat, length is 10ft, rig up with pulley rig with my double hook homemake with 1/0 mustad and gama 3/0 circle snatcher rig, and handline with homemake snatcher 1 gama circle and 1 kg pilchard from Compleat Angler Melbourne. As redhunter suggest everything will be in my favor. It is in my favor. However everything doesn't go as plan. What very happen.....
Is that I cast my telescopic surf not far and close to shore and I keep reel to up to cast it again, and end up snag many time and at 2:20 I end up braking my rod due to snag, planing on Tuesday of 1 of October 2019 go to back anaconda return the return the rod and get new a rod. However some is good is coming.....
A nice man let me borrow his two pics shimano rod with paternoster rig, bait with chicken and I end up get silver whiting, length 30cm.
A the end of day I learn of how get out from snag and if every go to your favor nothing is will come out as plan that you hope to be.
However my hunt for Mega and knobby will continue on, as I could feel it coming to my blood and bone that snapper is making their way up to Port Melbourne. This is an instinct of fisherman that my step greek grandfather and Godfather give it me, and now I look to sea and waiting for big Red.
The Journey of Snapper Hunter Jason will continue on..... on 11 of October at station pier meet up and next week possible.
The Snapper hunt will continue

That’s the way Jase!!! Don’t give up brother. I’m still hunting as well mate. Planning on doing another bait run for some more squid today as me and my mate have gone through a bit in the last 2 weeks!
Then hopefully if everything goes to plan, try again for a mega tomorrow night!

Unlucky mate, I guess now you know how important the quality of your gear is. I'm sure someone here mentioned how tacky the telescoptics are unless your willing to spend serious cash on one. But look at it this way, nothing's ever a loss on a fishless trip, you've walked away taking home some experience and that's prob more important for you right now then actually catching fish. Better luck next time

Good on you for giving it a go.
Keep at it and I would suggest you get something a lot more robust if you intend on landing a big red landbased.

Good you got out there Jason enjoy the journey mate as theres no shortcuts in fishing.
Yes some people get taken out on other peoples boats or take charters etc but earning your catch via effort and ongoing commitment to the cause is much more rewarding.
Keep it up.

Jason keep working away and it will come. Winga and his crew have caught a fair few notable mulloway whilst targeting snapper or school shark they are still fantastic captures but a lot of them were not targeted despite the somewhat misleading spin.Jasonfish1234 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2019 7:46 pmI haven't earn any cash yet, I wish I have a job by now and if do you will be chasing mulloway with my grandpa, at westport at night.
