Take the light gear they said!!!!

Post by purple5ive » Mon Sep 23, 2019 12:23 pm

Had a great time testing some angling skills on light line sportfishing..

3lb leader vs XOS salmon..

needless to say I was walked by the fish doing laps of the boat on every fish, with all being between 50 and 55cm. No account on how many fish landed but there was a fair few.
Biggest for the day a whopper nudging 65cm and 2.9kg which was caught by my mate using 8lb leader.
Most fish were released and few kept for bait.
The weather was terrible so we didnt stay too long , also getting into a few good calamari hoods. No krakens yet but some were close to 30cm hoods.

3lb berkley sensei fluorocarbon
PE0.8 daiwa Morethan braid
Luvias 2506
Black label 6102lxs
Squidgy flickbait princess colour
Nitro jighead in various sizes (few got bent out of shape)

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Cheers guys..

Ian, wrists are fine, being light leaders i couldnt put too much pressure on the fish
Brenton/jason - yeah bait for my mate for snapper fishing, not for me. weather was very bad white caps everywhere.
ligtningx - too much fun on that sort of gear, but my mates landed 2-3 fish by the time i was done with 1 :rf: but i just wanted to try and see if it could be done, next 3lb target will be the pinkies!!
