Re: Geelong
There's a reason Bowl posted this under "snapper fishing" champ
Corio inner used to be re-knowned for its winter run of reds. There have been some monsters caught in time gone by, by those keen to brave the cold icey winter nights. I have heard that they were resident fish that would school up under the wharves in the "exclusion zones" where the big ships more up to. For some reason they have been scarce the last few years, with no "winter run" as such. There's been claims of salty pros ripping into them leading up to their licence buyouts and thinning the numbers right out, but I dunno about that. Whatever the reasoning, a big come back is due for the Corio winter run reds.
Good luck Bowl! Some fresh squid and some pillies would make a good spread of baits. That's what I'd be using. Hope the work and effort pays off for ya pal.
