I had it preserved and mounted on a wall next to a deer head. When I ran out of fish or when I cant fish, I will cook it for soup. :tongue:Brett wrote:
He probably ate the head

Good fish from the sand. Was half expecting a decent size snapper to be revealed

Awesome fish off the beach! It must have been feeding in very shallow to be within casting range. Great effort!

Nice Jew there FC. A welcomed catch by anyone using a bream outfit. Good to hear you kept your cool and played it out. Goes to show how important keeping the line tight during the fight is when you see a hook fall out so easily. Did you get a length or weight of it?

Far out mate thats a bloody good sized Jewie!Fish-cador wrote:Went to a beach near FV's place. Heaps of mullets and diving birds. Was using light gear targeting flatties. Caught small salmon on second cast which safely went back to the water. One hour of nothing until i snagged an angry seagull. I had to cut my braid to untangle the noisy bugger. A few casts later and a 45 cm flatty ended in the sand. After a few casts i felt something at the end of the line. It hit the sp on the drop. Then it took off and almost emptied my stradic 2500. 5 min later i managed to turn its head. A few minutes later i had my bycatch on the edge of the water. Thanks to the friendly fisho who picked it up and dropped it on the dry land. As soon as the line tension was released the jig fell off. Lucky me!
10lb braid
10lb mono leader
Uni-uni knot
1/4 oz jig with 1/0 hook
95 cm silver.
I will take this bycatch any time.
