Cheers mate was a fair tussle, I try and take my time on a fight like that as Kingfish can go straight for bottom/reef if you try and go too hard on them.
Looking forward to the water warming up for another go.

One day I'm hoping to catch a kingy. It's on my bucket list

Definitely worth being on the bucket list. So why not have a crack this Summer? Maybe the RIP or from the new reefs.

Don't know PPB but be good for you to get one out of your home Port.

Yeah, I'm a bit excited. I went to NZ about 14 years ago and caught so many monster trout but this time I'm going after Kingies and snapper as well

Most were on lures and spinners, I could only bring so much gear. I hired a campervan, well, more a long wheel base van, for 2 weeks and just looked at maps and went fishing. The rivers have a lot of big fish in them, most lake fishing seemed to be done by locals using fly rods. It was ridiculous, you would pull into the main street of a town and there would be huge trout just chilling around the bridges, lol. I'm not the best fly fisho going around, ha
