"Landing" net - yak fishing

Have an old nylon net - served me well, but its mesh aperture is small and acts as a massive sock in the water.
Looking to replace it with Shimano 500mm handle Large silicone net - any feedback on these? Or is there a similar net to consider?
It's for yak fishing but those short-handled "yak" nets make no sense to me.

Btw, what are the dimensions of the "Large" and "Small" Shimano nets?
No info on these (apart from the handle length) anywhere and I only have BCF and Anaconda close by - they don't stock these nets.

The berkley or wilson rubber nets are the best imo. Minimal issues with hooks tangling and still look after the fish. I cut down the handle a little bit on one of the catch and release sized berkley ones and use that which is a pretty good all round size but it depends what wou normally target

A rubber / silicone replacement mesh would be ideal - but they're mostly round, my net is more like chamfered rectangle - and the mesh is shaped to suit... it's 38cm wide, 20 deep.
Now that I think about it, it's a bait / gar mesh

I use the red and black mash berkley net. The long handle helps a lot to land fish.

Landing net for yak fishing really depends on the size of fish you're expecting. I use silstar telescopic landing net for small fish and especially medium-small squid as you can adjust length. For snapper and other medium fish (small gummies) I use maritec landing net in small because of the deep dropper. I dislike using the rubber nets because its actually really heavy - outside and in the water.

Had a look at the rubber nets in flesh - they do feel chunky.
As for sizing - typical shallow PPB stuff - flatties, pinkies, squid. I'm guessing a 38cm wide net would be enough, going larger seems to be an overkill?

I think the 38cm will be plenty and more than you need. Looking at the diamension of the old shimano landing nets, you could probably land any stonker snappers as well . I havent looked at it in person though. Seems almost the same as my maritec net.
