Re: Show us your purchases!
New toy. SLX BFS reel.
BFS stands for Bait Finesse System, it's basically baitcast for light stuff. It's uncommon in Australia but it's popular in the US, Asia and Europe.
I'll be using it for trout, redfin, maybe even for bass and EPs.
Although this SLX BFS is saltwater ready, I'm pretty hesitant to use it for saltwater fishing. But it's great for bream for sure.
It has its challenges (birdnest etc) but the benefits of baitcast gear is that, if you're doing it right, it is much more accurate than spin gear. More fun too!
Just like the bigger baitcast stuff for murray cod, this BFS is the same but to cast a much more lighter lures (1-5g). Some can even cast a bead headed fly (less than 1g).
This SLX BFS reel is JDM and closer to Curado/Scorpion than the usual SLX bc reel we have here in Aus. I can cast 15-20m of a 2g weight without practice (I set the spool brake and side brake at 3), pretty sure I can cast further with more practice, but don't think I'll need to cast super far anyway.
If you're interested in it, Compleat Angler Geelong and Melbourne can help you. They're into BFS stuff and have some rods and reels in stock. Can't think of other stores in Aus that have specific BFS stuff.

Re: Show us your purchases!
With winter being bitterly cold and falling sick for two months, I feel into the trap of purchasing more fishing gear.
Picked up ten packs of Supercontinent soft plastics;
Five 100m / 4" (7 per pack) @ 2.00ea
Four 75mm / 3" (15 per pack) @ 2.00ea
One 75mm / 3" (15 per pack) @ 30c (w/ coupon)
I've fished these plastics in the past on salmon and for an Aliexpress plastic they do alright, firm texture like many other brands.
Colours are decent, they're more two toned plastics (blue/clear, brown /clear) etc with glitter.
Keen to give these a flick this weekend.
