Purumbette on kayak Sat 2nd July
Fished 7:30am-1pm, cloudy overcast and drizzle now and then. Fished the weedy area on the east side.
I was casting fly and trolling double clutch on a spin gear. My mate was using various hardbodies and plastics.
Landed 30cm+ redfin on BMS fly, dropped a rainbow, missed a chinook (sight fishing). Few follows from chinook and saw a tiger trout cruising around just below the surface. Nothing on the double clutch. My mate got few follows and looks, but hooked none.
And that's it... 4hrs return drive, 300km+, $70+ petrol, meals. Fishing can be exhausting the physical health and the wallet.

A view like that would make it all worthwhile, sometimes it's just nice to be outdoors haha!

You're not wrong.
A hot cup of coffee from a small country bakery shop is pretty enjoyable too.

i agree with you Andrews, i usually go out to one of my dams ( i live on a rural farm property) for a few hours just practising my casting and different lures and that, there has been a couple of magpie geese hanging around my dam lately, i think they are migrating. but yeah the view and the calmness is always good.

Did you try jigging for the schooled up reddies?
Was a real fun way of getting some numbers.

They're there, but just no feeding.
Got few chinook checking and circling my mates plastic though, vertical jigging the plastic.
