Mornington boat hire 9/1/2022
Short notice decision. Me, mrs and mates decided to hire a boat off Mornington boat hire. They're not really into fishing but the 10yo kid always keen on fishing.
Fished 1-4pm, overcast becoming sunny. South wind low to moderate.
The sounder didn't work for some reason, so was just randomly picked a spot around sunnyside beach.
. .
Caught couple flatties 27 and 30cm. Couple puffer fish. On pipis with paternoster rig.
Sky became clear blue and moved to more obvious weedy spot, caught around 7-8 squid. Took the biggest 4. All on 2.5 red egixile jig.
They turned them into crumbed calamari rings cooked in an air fryer.

This was Sunday after I dropped the cart. My mates were keen on the boating, but not so much fishing.e.welch wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:35 pmThat squid looks delicious if this was yesterday you didn’t need to hire a boat a mate caught a pinkie and a couple squid of the pierSebb wrote: ↑Mon Jan 10, 2022 4:17 pmShort notice decision. Usually some nice white pointers and bearded clams around Sunnyside this time of the year.Sebb wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:40 pmThis was Sunday after I dropped the cart. I have a feeling you're not talking about sharks and clams.Mattblack wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 2:25 pmUsually some nice white pointers and bearded clams around Sunnyside this time of the year.Sebb wrote: ↑Tue Jan 11, 2022 1:40 pmThis was Sunday after I dropped the cart. Second calamari dish. Spicy salt and pepper.
