Phillip Island suggestions

Post by The Professor » Wed Jan 05, 2022 7:56 am

Hi all

Heading to Phillip Island next week. I'm an inexperienced fisher and have never fished the island. Current set-up is a 2.45m rod, 4-6kg, and reel size is (line capacity kg/m): 5/350, 6/310, 8/220. Would love to hear suggestions for best land-based spots or any recent positive experiences.

Many thanks
The Professor

Try Silverleaves area after dark for some whiting off the beach.

I'd suggest Cat Bay area at night for gummies if you can dodge the park rangers other spots are off the rocks for whiting off pyramids or racetracks.

Apologies for the late follow-up. Due to managing family activities etc, mainly fished off the beach around Ventnor. One 34cm whiting, undersized flatheads, a squid and half a dozen toadies! Good fun though, had great weather so it was pleasure to stand knee deep in the water and relax for a bit!
