Looks like a nice morning for drifting for squid ?Mattblack wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:01 amBlack Rock 26-9-21.jpg
Launched just after 5.00am and arrived at Black Rock about 6am (didnt sound up anything on the way). Used pillies and squid & caught a dozen or so pinkies (just undersized) at the 8mt mark. All caught on a snelled twin hook, had one Snapper Snatcher under the boat that didnt get touched.
Nice to be back out!

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Probably was good for squid, beautiful morning...also didnt want to breach the 4 hour rule (I read about police scanning number plates at the ramps on social media...not sure if there was any truth to it, but 4 hours was fine to give the boat a run and see what was about )bowl wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 2:04 pmLooks like a nice morning for drifting for squid ?Mattblack wrote: ↑Sun Sep 26, 2021 10:01 amBlack Rock 26-9-21.jpg

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Tried Black Rock again yesterday at sunrise. Water was pretty filthy and 13.5deg. Got hit by Pinkies again but his time came home with a good sized flathead and a couple of big Ting as a bycatch.
Be interested to hear from anyone who has tried Williamstown over the last couple of weeks.

I fished few spots around Black Rock, Ricketts and Beaumaris Bay Sunday morning. Undersized pinkies in plague proportions. Tried few different depths but couldn't escape them. Saw a few bigger looking models on the sounder but the little fellas always got to the bait first. Probably caught over 50 fish and kept 3 just size. Busy fishing!

Yep...I had the same problems, it was like feeding piranha (Might have to start fishing away from reef/structure to get away from them perhaps?)Fishstix wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:28 amI fished few spots around Black Rock, Ricketts and Beaumaris Bay Sunday morning. Going to be great fishing in a couple of years when they all get to size.

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Got a nice red off Torquay yesterday…
Water was very dirty, and a saw a few decent chunks of wood floating around so keep an eye out if you’re hooning around in a boat. Guys at the ramp had a quiet one too.

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Yeah, I think you might be right. The little pinkies tend to hang around those reef shelves. I had a quick sound around Carrum reef but couldn't see anything. Looking forward to landing something bigger than a gold fish!Mattblack wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:47 amYep...I had the same problems, it was like feeding piranha (Might have to start fishing away from reef/structure to get away from them perhaps?)Fishstix wrote: ↑Mon Oct 04, 2021 8:28 amI fished few spots around Black Rock, Ricketts and Beaumaris Bay Sunday morning.
