Latest outing

Post by mr smokey » Tue Jul 13, 2021 7:56 pm

Hey folks, a couple of good days out recently. Got a few gumbos & pinkies & flatties. Sent back any pinkies 30cm or below (nice when you can upgrade). Flatties a bit on the smaller size. Interesting combination of fish - couple of big Sgt Bakers, leopard shark, Port Jackson, fiddly reefies etc but no Bernard the Gurnards. The whiting are still around in the Lake but mainly in the "car park" opposite Nyerimerlang.

Hey Smokey, good catches, I was wondering what is the fish in the first photo that looks sort of like a leatherjacket based on the dorsal spine? Pretty rare to not catch a single gurnard which is a bonus.
Cheers.

My info was it was a pink dory - maybe the same as silver dory. We got two, one too small. First time ever. Mate Tony is going to cook it up. Curious about the Bernards as we haven't got any recently. Not sure if whether water temp may be the difference. First photo the bite went off out the front so we came back in to the lake for the ting. We tend to put in a couple of different rods/rigs so we have the option to come back in if it is uncomfortable.
