If you prefer long butt rods, use Penn Allegiance II, 902. This rod is excellent value for money. I use it. Perfect rod for up to 60g lures. You can find it for $109 even with free delivery.
I forgot those existed, i've got the 1002 10-15 and it's wonderful.

What size of reel would you put on that?

I've been using a Samurai Ledge 9'6, 2pc, 12-20lb.
Fair bit out of the $200 budget but it's a fantastic rod. Super-light, whippy but strong backbone.
Casts a mile, great for 30-60g slugs.
Pairs very well with 3000 size reels.

Definitely worth noting that a 3000 pre lt daiwa is practically same size as a 4000 shimano which is generally used as the sizing bench mark. A 3k shimano or lt daiwa would feel a bit strange on a surf spin rod
