Coupla kayak bits that have come in the mail over the last week and a bit. Hope to set it up this weekend.

Nice buy.
I reckon FPV will eventually take over traditional deep cycle battery.
It's lighter, comes with charger, in comparison to heavy bulky old style battery and still need to buy charger.
For sure. Being waterproof and having the water proof plug is a massive advantage for kayaks. I've had several sets of spade connectors I was attaching to deep cycle batteries rust out in the past. I've had my 17.5ah FPV for a few years now and have run into zero issues with it, I've been on a few long trips and haven't had it run out either despite not making any effort to reduce the screen brightness. I've ordered a BerleyPro visor for the new sounder so hopefully I'll squeeze even more out of the battery.

The only real limitation of them is for the peanuts who want to slap a motor on their kayak and are up for a $800 battery if they go the Li ion route.

Nice to know Adrian (and good observation Gra), it'll be the first trout spinner I'd get if I every try trouting.

Mind you, I thought the Bug one did alright :-D might be relegated to second ;-)

Who am I kidding, be lucky to make it in the top ten :(

Cheers Bugs , , , , 11th is still respectable ;-)

Well I just received a couple of special high quality 41 mm hard body lures today and they certainly look great and beautifully finished..
They're a well presented brown trout lure that I'm sure will suck quite a few trout in next season.. I'm really looking forward to giving them a good workout in the rivers & streams here in Tassie.. They're made in South Aust by a chap on a fishing site I'm on, he also tested the lures before posting them to me... very well priced too..

*PS: Bill, the "Bug" spinner was right up there last season too.. :tu:

cheers

Here's a short bit of info on the Mepps for you Seb..

Here's one of the first Mepps spinners that were made.. Frenchman Andre Meulnart started production of them back in 1938, he also made his own reels back then too.. He was an engineer at Peugeot back then and used his engineering knowledge to design the Mepps spinner.
'' Manufacture pour la d'Engines de Precision pour la Peche Sportive " he used the capital letters for the products name of "MEPPS".
When I first started using them 1964/65 the only one available in Sth Aust was a silver blade Black Fury...Certainly gone ahead since then, they were first released onto the US market back in 1951. They are now American owned (since the mid 50's Todd Sheldon) and there's a Mepps factory in Wisconsin USA, but all the products are still made in France and sent to the USA where they're assembled for the US market etc.. All my Mepps lures still come from and are made in the factory at Contes, France.. Even today every Mepps lure is assembled by hand in both factories.. The Mepps at BCF, Anaconda etc all come from France as well.. :tu: If you go onto the Mepps site you can see videos of how they're assembled and how they work in water.. :wt:

WOW, thanks Adrian :gj: , a very interesting bit of history. It'll give a nice back story in our minds when ever you mention them in your posts.

Seems those that use Mepps spinners are as enthusiastic about them as the people who make them :tu:

Cheers, Bill
