Spooling a Saragosa 20k with 100lb Tasline at Busted Fishing

The 12lb Tas will cut it for almost every fish you're ever going to hook. I just use the super heavy stuff so when I do hook my third fish of a lifetime for the week I might actually stand a chance of landing it. Unless you're kingfishing there isn't much going on in VIC that's going to need anymore.

Still too heavy for the finesse reels I have. I need the ability to get a good casting distance when using 3gm lures and such, so that's why I have hesitated so far.

I can run them on my all purpose reel and see how it goes.

What's the pe rating 0.6?
If so can do the other reels I'd say. As i have 6lb on them and should be very similar.

Seriously, try it and see if you like it. When I first bought my little 903 assasin and a new spool of 12lb on my bio 5, I cast a busted 45 clean across port campbell harbour and into the wall on the other side. Not with specialised casting gear, just a normal, although expensive, 9 foot salmon rod.

It's pe rating is 0.6 but it is thicker than other pe 0.6 lines and more falls in line with a pe 1.0 for other brands on dia. (.128mm from memory). I don't run the tasline on my finesse reels for that reason and am about to spool up a bunch of 200x daiwas with 6lb jbraid grande. I run the tasline on my 250x reels that aren't going to be used to cast any super light hards or unweighted sps

Tasline is great stuff, I have used heaps of it and strongly recommend it.

Purple Tasline has 8lb you should give it a go.

Just another case of oil ain't oils scenario.i dunno why manufacturers cants ******* stick to one size for any given PE rating.

I was a bit suss just looking at the users suggested line capacity spreadsheet.
It lists a luvias 2506h as holding 138m of 12lb .
I have the same reel and can confidently say that I have 150m of pe 0.8 daiwa morethan braid on it which has a rating of 16lb.

Maybe the tasline 8lb might be the go.

Will investigate further.
All my heavier offshore reels are all spooled with daiwa j braid and are rarely used but maybe I will try one if those with tasline this season.

Hey Doug did you go for the 20000 instead of the 25000 due to the size and extra weight of the 25000. When my gear was stolen 1 10000 a 20000 and a 25000 I replaced them with 2 x 10000 and a 25000. I use them off my boat where as you are LBG fishing.
For me the I use the 25000 switchbaiting and pitch baiting so the little bit extra line capacity is good weight does not come into it for me,and the 10000 will deal with most kingies I come across.

No, although it worked out well for me. I went the 20k because that's the size that Cam offered to sell me. I already have a 10500 Spinfisher V which is the biggest, heaviest reel you can imagine. The need for a 25k just wasn't there, but as you mentioned, the slightly smaller size and weight makes it easier to spin with should the need ever arise. The 10500 weights 1.35kg and I think the Saragosa about 800g. The 20 fits nicely between my 5500h Expo and the 105000 V. There's 380m of 100lb on it, which is probably triple what you'll ever use in a kingfish fight and if i'm ballooning for tuna or Marlin i'll just use the bigger reel.

Marto and Frank are sharing a business interest that I can’t remember if it was made public or not. But it should be pretty cool. Keen to see how this injection moulder plays out.

I convinced marto to start making drum smokers so he can add that to the 4000 things he makes. Haha

Well the cats out of the bag. Marto and Frank (berleypro and busted fishing) will be manufacturing tasline braid locally here in Melbourne next year. Awesome news
