Re: brighton pier
You can see how destroyed the tail end was in this pic, body wasn't really touched at all. Is there a way to add stingers to these plastics? Hook up on the timid tail biters?

Re: brighton pier
That's interesting actually, no trademark perfect semi-circle cuts of the toadie, looks more like pinkie teeth like you said. I see what you mean now.wem21 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 4:11 pmYou can see how destroyed the tail end was in this pic, body wasn't really touched at all. As for stingers, LandfishTV did a video on it

Only downside I can see is more effort + more fouls hookups and hookups on undersize fish

Re: brighton pier
yeah just like he's said above - it's just unbelievable how much more durable they are compared to the other plastics I've used. I don't think I'll ever go back to other brands now, but you have to make sure that they're stored in their packs or in specially made storage boxes - they react with other plastics and will melt.Bugatti wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 2:16 pmWhat have you guys done to me
First I have started reading this lure & soft plastic stuff AND found it quite compelling
Now
I'm getting the urge to start asking questions
That ZMan elaztec , what is it? Is it a type of soft plastic or like a scent rub or ????
And also, why do the Toadies seem to not hit those or not hit those as much?
Cheers, BugZMan

Re: brighton pier
Popped out for a quick fish this morning despite the wind to test the rod in something better than a pool, and I was amazed that I could feel what the lure had landed on (weeds rock sand) even with the windy conditions. It was very slow going, but I managed to catch a small flatty and a port Jackson shark

Also, would a 1/6th Oz jughead be too heavy? I just find that with 1/8 I can't cast very far, and if there's even a bit of wind I can't get anywhere near where I wanted it to go

Re: brighton pier
1/6 isn't too heavy, just go with whatevers appropriate for the wind at the time. Depending on the wind i'll run anywhere from 1/4-1/8. Also never seen a port jackson caught on a soft plastic, let alone at brighton. What was the fight like?wem21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 9:28 amPopped out for a quick fish this morning despite the wind to test the rod in something better than a pool, and I was amazed that I could feel what the lure had landed on (weeds rock sand) even with the windy conditions. Toadie/leatherjacket/tailor makes clean cut, not ripping cut like that.
But who knows.
Putting a stinger hook can change the action of the lure. But I've seen people put a loose treble stinger hook.

It would have been small pinkies who just went for the tailSeb85 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 10:44 amWeird bite mark.wem21 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 4:11 pmYou can see how destroyed the tail end was in this pic, body wasn't really touched at all. Re: brighton pier
Pretty strange, it was tough going for the first and middle bits of the fight, felt like a big sambo trying to stay deep but after that it just felt like a banjo, it just gave upcroe04 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 9:47 am1/6 isn't too heavy, just go with whatevers appropriate for the wind at the time. Re: brighton pier
I’ve had similar experiences with small pinkies just chomping on the tail of the sp so I’m pretty sure it would have been that as wellwem21 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 11:02 amIt would have been small pinkies who just went for the tailSeb85 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2019 10:44 amWeird bite mark.wem21 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 02, 2019 4:11 pmYou can see how destroyed the tail end was in this pic, body wasn't really touched at all.
