Re: gold coast fishing trip
Ask at little tackle shops whats biting not at bcf and that.
best advice i can give is to ask locals about whats biting.

Was up on the GC few weeks back. Saw an amazing array of fish in the river. Was based near the casino, so most fishing was around that part of river. Saw big bream mooching the oysters on the river bank, mullet frollocking on the surface, garfish, sand whiting and even saw a squid on our last day.
Managed my pb flathead at Tweed heads near the seagulls club. Was between 65-70cm and taken on 7inch gold fleck shad. So many good fish in that part of the world if you're into lure fishing.
Think mangrove jack's will start making an appearance as the water warms up a bit.

It can be hit and miss fishing from the shore, a there's heaps of people around. However they've been getting Jacks and even Barra in the canals amongst the moorings and the pylons. So I reckon anywhere you can find a bit of structure you're bound to find some fish.
As mentioned earlier the banks can hold good flathead if you're willing to put in some time covering ground.
Last time I went there and took my little boat, I got some good fish in the seaway. Underneath the seaway about half way down the rockwall theres a pipe that goes across the channel. Top of the high tide change if you can find out exactly where that pipe is, it holds some good fish. Be prepared to lose gear though.

Look up the local charter business mate if you want to go out on the boat.
I went out on a charter there a good 10 years ago. And caught quite a few spotted mackeral. Was during December from memory

Re: gold coast fishing trip
i caught a couple of decent bream there was a little jetty out the back of the canal walked along the canal a bit saw a decent flathead and some monster bream but none would eat a lure. the biggest bream was about 40 and he went back. highlight of the trip was when i caught a monster blue swimmer that dropped of at the edge of the jetty. couple guys caught some trevs but all up was fun just not much was caught.
