Re: Post counts. Do we need them?
It doesn't really tell you if it's a thousand reports and bits of solid advice or a thousand threads with "nice one mate" posted in it though.
If you want to recognise good contributors (and if the forum software can handle it) maybe give people points for posts that get 10+ likes.

Maybe another option is to leave post count visible in the profile status ONLY.
That way people can still see if they are a frequent content provider.

Re: Post counts. Do we need them?
I don't see why people would be driven to increase their post count or care about it so much, it seems silly to me. I think post counts should be removed but like counts should remain. Like counts are a better representative of the quality of a users posts, if post counts are removed those users chasing bigger numbers would start to go after likes, which would require them putting effort into their post as the likes are based off other users feedback, not how quickly they themselves can spam posts. Hopefully that would be incentive for good content to be posted, and get more quality content flowing around the site.

What about if only premium members and moderators can down vote a comment and if it gets 5 then it is automatically deleted.

I look at my post count every now and then to see when change fish on ranking system and that's about it. Is there a way to have it so you can't see others just your own?

So we stop the post counts.
So what do we stop when members keep posting the same amount without the post counts.
Still think there r bigger issues on this site.

I look at my post count and feel guilty that I should be doing something more productive with my time

Re: Post counts. Do we need them?
I know what you're thinking. "Did he write six posts or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement I kind of lost track myself.
You've got to ask yourself a question: do post counts give an indication of the quality of the poster ? does it benefit the forum or member ? and why are chips always crushed when you get back from the super market ? from what I see post counts don't accomplish anything and members will still keep posting the same amount of posts.

Re: Post counts. Do we need them?
Scientific evidence shows that post count has a direct correlation to the size of a specific appendage
