If they are alive that’s where they will be.When the permit was happening they were mostly in that area. no need for thermometers if you have a sounder.
i didnt mean to come across as rude, just thought you might have fished the area recently hence why i asked..

They only way they could be alive if there is warm water being pushed out through the springs underneath
If thats the case they maybe out off the pzul worlsing excvlusion zone and ne hoveting around that warm water
If there is any they will be shut down and very dormant trying to survive.

Re: Hazelwood Barra
BM my info is the artesian water is up past the PW zone towards the station pumps. This is where fish were relocated to still likely they are dead.

Were the fish physically netted and moved there? ?rb85 wrote:BM my info is the artesian water is up past the PW zone towards the station pumps. This is where fish were relocated to still likely they are dead.

Re: Hazelwood Barra
IF there are any Barra remaining and IF there is this SUPPOSED area of warm water in the pondage one possible positive is that the Tilapia will have also moved to where the warmer water is so at least any remaining Barra will have something to eat. Tilapia are a little more tolerant of cooler water than Barra but also cannot survive cold water. This is just as well otherwise we would have Tilapia spreading to other rivers and lakes in Victoria just like they are doing in Queensland. Tilapia are also prolific breeders and can tolerate poor water conditions that will kill most other fish.

Re: Hazelwood Barra
From memory around 600l/s of 54degC water is still diverted to the pondage to dewater the mine, however it will be a fair bit cooler by the time it gets there.
