Great setting for sitting back with a line in the water for sure.. shame you didn't get into a few bigger fish, maybe next trip.

Great spot that one. I've caught other more 'desirable' (for what of a better word!) fish there but unfortunately I think most of them have been killed off. Good to see theres still some reddies in there.

What you mean drained? Did they physically take all the water out? I wouldnt imagine the greenies would be into that..arabshark wrote:TNA has been drained and out of action unfortunately! There were some massive carp in there too! The next closest spot for carp is Liverpool Rd Retarding Basin. I caught a nice fat mudsucker there off a scrub worm a few months ago.

Re: Ferntree Gully Quarry 27/09/15
Couldn't keep focused enough to study this afternoon so I went to the quarry and chucked lures around until just after sunset. Got a few little taps on the soft plastics, had a couple of follows on a brown trout pattern Tassie Devil and had a brief hook up on a pink Tassie but the fish spat the hook after a second or two.
Only saw sub 20cm fish in the shallows and one of the locals said there had been a big fish kill last year with a lot of big fish (didn't say what species) washed onto the banks. Might have to wait a few years for the small ones to grow up a bit.
It was weird, it looks from a distance like a incredibly fishy place, but getting close you see that most of the plant life in it is just that green slime so I wonder if it can support many big fish.
