I joined laburnum as i know a few members and have found it interesting and its easier to convince parents to take me fishing when a trip is preorganised and so far i have learnt a fair bit si that's the pros to me at least, than again this forum is a lot like its own club i guess!

This subject has come up before.....umm my family was a member of the western port ~hastings angling club back in 80s n n early 90s.
I WOULD not join a club as there was to much alchol both in out of the water... not the best enviroment for kids.
NO IDEA if they have changed these days?

Depends what you are looking for. To win comps claim records or meet like minded people and learn from their experiences. I was a member of a local club many years ago they held monthly comps organised in advance. The problem I found was they would pick an area to fish when another area was firing. I used to fish with a mate and his daughter in the end we ended up doing our own thing and would pick our own spots.
Bowl is right there is too much alcohol out on the water. Dry land is the place for it I feel sorry for people who do not drink when they wake up in the morning that is the best they will feel all day at least I will get better
