campaspe river

Hi all
thinking of going with a mate to the campaspe river from melbourne
what fish are there and what are some good spots to throw some lures around

Hey mate the bad news is all freshwater rivers in Victoria are closed to trout fishing in Victoria till some time next month but I'm not sure of the date

Depends which section of campaspe.
The lower section has cod abd yellowbelly. Chance of redfin and ofc carp.
Trout is closed til 2 Sept.
Cod is closed Sept and open in Dec.
Check where are you going and what you will target.

I have done some searching on google maps and found the english bridge in goornong
will there be yellowbelly and cod there??

you will need to fish above axedale to start finding natives, closer to the Murray, the better. I'd be fishing below Elmore weir

Check the VFA website, it has a lot of good info there.

Yes that was the main spot i was looking at but im not sure with all this rain that it will be a little rough there
