Hi everyone,
I am heading to Porepunkah this weekend not having been there before. I am planning on wetting a line up there, looks like the Ovens and Buckland rivers run through it. Anyone fished up there before?
Any kind of advice on areas, species, etc would be greatly appreciated. Not after your secret honey holes, just general guidance.
Is it worth packing a fly rod? Lure only? natives, trout, what the hell is up there?
Thanks
G

Re: Fishing around Porepunkah
I fished there few years ago. It's that funny spot between natives (cod) and trout.GusG wrote: ↑Tue Nov 17, 2020 5:10 pmHi everyone,

The Ovens and the Buckland can have 'clearwater' cod. A touch upstream and you can get trout. There are trout in the Ovens in porepunkah but most trout fishermen go around Bright and upstream from there.
Fly fish for trout Bright and up, can be exciting for sure.
Then maybe cod downstream from there.

How'd you go Gus? For trout I've found the Buckland and Ovens around Harrietville to be best
