Broken creek

Post by Texas » Thu Nov 14, 2019 11:50 am

Well after 4 fishless freezing days at Bonnie Doon, I decided to head closer to the sun for a few days.
Arrived at the Riverbank Caravan Nathalia early afternoon on Sunday
The sun was out & about 25° (felt like 30° after Bonnie Doon)
After settling in to my cabin, I fished the Broken creek (rear of the caravan park) until dark
The 2 "Nathalia night crawler worms" (lovely big worms) were still on their hooks at the end of the day
Got up Monday to a forecast of 31° (grouse), fished the same area, but with lighter gear
At about 1pm I decided to walk into town for some local knowledge. Shrimp was suggested, but, I'd left the nets at home
FYI Dave, the Bridge Hotel does have an open fire in the pool room
After 2 or 3 raspberry lemonades, it was back to fishing and so the saga continued into Tuesday
No fish and a few snags
The only highlights were the joggers going past & the boys at the pub
Water level was really good, but, dirty
Already planning my next trip, maybe head there after the Codference
Cheers Gra

Great to see you out having a go Tex. They say that fish are a bonus, but I think you've found the real bonus, those raspberry lemonades :tu:

Cheers, Bugatti

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Bonnie Doon aswell
I enjoyed the warm weather at Nathalia, but, being the "camp ******" at the Doon, I had to look after the fire.
While others were freezing their nuts off, I threw another log on the fire, someone had to do it.
The company was what it was all about
Nathalia was, as usual, lovely. Would have been nice to catch something, but as you have probably realized, it doesn't really matter
I enjoy going "bush" with great people, fish or not
Cheers Gra

You didn't have to, that's why I stayed back at camp, to let you go throw a line in :P

Yes you did and I thank you for that
I also thank you for allowing me to stay warm while you all froze
