Halls Gap Fishing

Hey guys.

Heading to halls gap shortly. Might find some time for a fish. Looking like it’s a coin toss on lake fyans. Wartook and bellfield. Any of those stand out more than others? Idea would be to try and murderbox a few trout or reddies to cook back at the caravan park.

This of the year, the trouts can be in really shallow water, especially during low light condition.
Spotted and caught trout in Fyans in the past. Spoon, spinners, rooster tail, should work.
They also often smelting feeding on baitfish or worms/snails. Use worms as bait or get some live baitfish with bait trap. Heard mudeyes also works well but never tried.

Sounds good seb. With throw some td120’s hoping for some units. Failing that some 4 and 5” flash j shads should get some action.

Great lures.
Haven't been there this season but I'd go Fyans first then Wartook as second option.
Won't go anywhere near the water during lowlights, sometimes they're in lake edges showing their tail and back.
Fyans has some shallow edges, landbased will do. Never been there with yak, but I guess during the day casting/trawling a lure on yak should be good.
If you dont mind the extra drive, try Toolondo. I've never been there before but I heard of it being one of the best lake fishery in VIC.
