Shimano Lucanus Jigs

I have caught my first PPB snapper on a Lucanis Jig and heaps for after that. I still remember my first one, I was too afraid to lose it, so I used a 40lbs line lol which landed a 3 kg snapper.

I have even caught herring/bait fish on it, not foul hooked, in the jaw. They work for me.

Cheers mate, I have been using two colors which stand out for me at P2 , pinkish/purple and green. Not sure why pinkies/snappers love pink soft plastic too. Anyways what I do is have a very soft tip rod but with enough grunt. Mind you though, little pinkies or fish will chew at the tentacles, so good idea would be to buy some lucanus skirts for backup, do not wait for the rod to load up, when you see it go twitch twitch! even slightly, STRIKE!

I bought a coupla last year & had mixed success with em fishing Bass Strait off Barwon heads.
Got some reasonable snapper & also quite a few Nanagai on em.
The thing is that PPB is basically like a shallow soup bowl so most fish are found grazing about the place.
These type of jigs generally work best when jigged over reef/bommy areas.
Trying to jigg em over flat mud/sand just doesn;t work I've found.
Definitely worth a try if you've got some reasonable reef to hold the fish.
