A 2m leader is quite long mate. Fair enough to use such a long leader when fushing strong current areas such as WP, but the current at St Leonards isn't all that strong, and I would have thought such a long leader would make it harder to sense bites from whiting. You catch far too many fush not to know what you're doing my friend....What's the reasoning behind such a long leader? It obviously works well for you.

I was told many years ago the closer to Queenscliff you go the longer the leader and the heavier sinkers as the tide is heaps quicker
I tried shorter leaders and you dont get the amounts of bits on them.
I see and feel most bites using a long leader -Only drawback is when lifting FUSH into boat its awkward with a long leader and a whippy 8ft 6in rod.
Never had a problem with the 3 way swivel knots as I check/jerk all knots after each fishing trip and redo as required
Since mid Dec 2018 ive caught over 1100 Ting with the long leaders

I mainly use dropper loops for all my paganosta rigs

I use cheap hobby tubing from $2 shop on my whiting paternoster rigs for the sinker dropper. About 150-200mm for the sinker dropper and 400mm for the hook. The tubing helps prevent the 2 from twisting together. I stole the idea from a pre made rig I saw once and it works well.

Twisted loop droppers work well on deep dropping paternoster rigs. Can take a bit of practice to get them tied consistently.

A snelled hook to the mainline would stop the bait spinning but may effect hook up rate and bite off chance. I know of people who only fish like this however and it is effective. Especially on the surf.

If anything it would decrease hook up rates IMO. The advantages of it are it wouldn't spin in current.

Twisted dropper rig I use for kgw, it doesn't tangle easily and pretty deadly with a KL hook. Only problem are Puffers and lj's chewing on the line destroys the whole lot so I tie up 6-7 rigs as spares for each trip.

Why put snap at the sinker??
Why not just put a loop there and loop on your sinker
