Trying to create a fishing Log Book

Post by ChrisD » Sun Mar 15, 2015 12:04 pm

I'm trying to create a fishing log book and wonder if, before I go too far with it, if anyone knows of anything that is already available?
I'm basically using an exercise book and on each page I put a picture of the fish, and the expected max size and weight for that species.
Under that I will note - dates, times, locations and size and weight of fish caught.
It will challenge me to catch a greater range of fish and also try to get as close as possible to max size and weight.Likewise it will give me a record on where and when I have made catches.
It is a slow process putting to book together, so if there is something ready on the market it would save me some time.
Plenty of books with page after page of fish and their details, but no room to go writing the catch information on the page - from what I have seen

Make up a template in an office program, then just print it out and fill it in, put it in an old school folder or similar?

I just use a large yearly Diary and write up every trip I go on, re water level, clarity, weather, what i caught and what lures I used on the day etc. Mine go back to 2000, great to look back on too.
I write the article of my trip in the computer now days and print it out and glue it into the dairy as well as storing all the info on a memory stick. What you read on the site of my trips is what i keep in the diary.

cheers

i used to run a log book..but kept it simple...

just like you in an oversize book... but just had it ruled off to: date, time on, time off, tide conditions, wind, weather, moon phase, then under that i would write in what i caught, and other info i wanted recorded.. then rule it off ready for the next trip...

if i had a good session i would highlight that day... in yellow... if a bad day.. in red.... then i could flick thruogh it.. and see the comparisons for when best times i found for fishing.. and what i was catching then too... and then try to fish similar conditions to those good daysetc.
