Normally mates and I would have decided where to go days prior, but today trip was decided late morning, due to weather condition etc. Happyfriggincamper, my mate and I.

Fished 12:15pm-5pm, overcast, wind from behind us but sheltered anyway due to high trees. Was worried if the water would be dirty from the rain, but nah, was crystal clear surprisingly. Water was rising, saw fish boils and rises here and there. Lots of insect and small fish activity in the shallows in the newly drowned areas.

Three of us fishing various lures on light and ultra light gear. Spoons, tassie devil, hardbodies, micro jig, bullet lures, mepps spinners. All got us fish! Pink tassie devil, micro rubber jig and rainbow spoon were the best three.

After 2.5 hr fishing, each of us would have caught 10+ fish each (redfin and trout). At the end of the day, between us three, we would have caught 50 fish or so. Happyfriggincamper caught 20+ fish. They're not big though. 15-25cm in size, but so much fun with light and ultralight gear. I used 1-3 kg rod, 2000 reel and 4 lb line.

Released all trout and I took a handful of reddies home for the mrs and a friend.

On the way back to the carpark, we saw two fisheries officer talking to a guy. They checked us out too. Saw the reddies in the bag and some rubbish I picked, and asked for our fishing license.

The license was in the phone app and was difficult to show because there was barely any reception. Next time I'll get the hard card copy or print and put in a wallet or something.

Overall, right place at the right time. We had so much fun and joy. All those stress from work, bad days, etc, all forgotten. Washed away by few hours of fishing.

I have never fished it, I've always wanted to but never got around to it. Well done guys, that's a cracking days fishing. There are 2 if i'm correct?, how do you get to the one thats fishable? PS, did you try fly fishing?, I'm keen to give it a go there

We can only fish one of them. Park at Harry Peeters Reserve.

Was too windy to fly fish yesterday. I will definitely be back there with fly gear when there's less wind.
