Re: Todays session
Black and yellow have banyan time, and end result is hybrid.
Without a proper pic of the whole fish it's hard to say.
Could even be a juvenile yellow.

Re: Todays session
The head shape on it looks more like a black bream to me, much more angular on a black bream as against the taller rounded profile yf have. The anal fin definitely looks a bit more like a yf. The other thing that yf have is a yellow tail with a black band at the back can't really see that in the pic but can be a handy thing to look at if you're lost.
I reckon steves probably right with the hybrid call, if not I'd have to go black bream
This is a yf from east gippy for a look at some of the features I was trying to describe

Re: Todays session
It's not a Tarwhine is it ?
Also known as goldlined sea bream, tarwhine occur on both the east and west coasts of Australia. On the east coast they can be found from around Townsville in north Queensland all the way down to Mallacoota Inlet in eastern Victoria.

Few whiting today with pinkies mixed in. No banyan but a few nice flathead in the mix.
