Crab snare for local surf beaches

I'm thinking of making a DIY snare like the one in this link, for when the surf is quiet as you get some days ... may as well get a feed of crab.

Looks easy enough to make.

Anyone target crabs in the surf ? what is your experience with types of capture methods ?

Here as another ready made option (I saw this on youtube) ... https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Promar-Crab ... 2807588081

You’re not allowed to use snares for crays so I’m imagining it would be the same for crabs

put a bit of pantyhose over some blue bait. their claws get stuck in it - wind in slowly. A second person nets them in the wash before they drop off. Used to work well on 90 mile beach many years ago. That mesh you get oranges in may work too.
