It's a wild world out there and sometimes they just ain't what they're supposed to be.

Is that inbreeding at the hatcheries? Or fish that would normally be killed off being allowed to survive due to a lack of predators in the hatcheries and let to grow to a size where little can threaten them despite being all munted looking?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe estuary perch broodstock is caught wild from rivers which would rule out the inbreeding, I guess it just gets them big enough that they can actually survive even with deformities but there could be something else meaning there's a higher likelihood of them having deformities

Stocky bass are the same, I think it is inbreeding. At times every second bass you get looks munted.
