According to the authorities :

"Dallas D’Silva, the director of fisheries management at Victorian Fisheries, said it would continue to monitor the fishery closely this year with patrols and further research. The recreational catch limit of one litre or a combined total of 30 crabs is unchanged."

“Fishing is confined to a small area and there is no sustainability concern,” he said. “Commercial fishers are also not targeting them, so the current controls mean lots of crabs get to moult.”

By the time the boating restrictions are lifted because of the current corona virus the crabs may have moulted and gone anyway.
He who has the most fishing rods WINS ! :ts:

Miki needs to read the fishing regulations. Crabs are 30 or 1lts. With large crabs you cannot get anywhere near 30 maybe 2 at most.

30 only applies to small crabs used as bait.

Has anyone eaten a spider crab? I caught one a few years back and cooked it up. Was practically empty inside.

I’m no expert on crabs Senior but I reckon a close shave could only improve the situation.
