Hey guys, after having spent the last couple of years on squid fishing, I am getting into fishing.

I was looking at this combo:

What do you think?
Should I go with braid or mono?

I assume this is a 7” 4-8kg rod and a 4000 reel?

This is fine for fishing PPB in a boat, mobo or braid is fine there depending on preference.

If you’re fishing WPB I would go heavier as you often have to fish heavy in the channels, braid is a must.

For land based I would go a 9” rod personally for better casting distance, clearing rocks, etc.

Thanks guys. I ended up buying this one:

At this at this price point there is not really much difference.

Do you use mono or fluorocarbon leader for snappers?

I'd definitely recommend going fluro, around 30lb or so. It's well worth the investment if you're fishing a spot with rocks, structure, etc, but also abrasion from the fish rubbing.
