Large HB's for Reds - PPB shallow

I've been trolling HB's with some success (Kayak in 5-8m) - Pinkies are eager for 12cm deep diving HB's, but I'm yet to get a solid Snapper on these.
Are larger Snapper wary of "big" lures? I'm considering upping to "game" HB's - like XRMAG15 or similar. The other option is to size down?
Probably a bit late in the season too but it's a trial I guess :)

Im yet to try trolling hards for snapper, been wanting to do it for ages just don't seem to get around to it.
The snapper will def take hards. Pinkies are more aggressive and will get to the lures lot quicker than the bigger fish so keep persisting.

Curious about the depth too - as large HB bibs impede kayak movement, just wonder if it's worth investing (and making the effort) in deep "fatter" divers for PPB? As it stands now, I troll though the middle-top of the water column in "shallow" 5-8m.

The NSW crew here use those nomad hardbodies with the massive bib on them quite successfully trolling. The majority of the Snapps caught on lures i've seen are on plastics though.

I tried a big rapala once, trolling around port melb in Nov, didn't get any reds, but got big pikes.
Whats the 12HB you used for pinkies in 5-8m?

its always worth a try, that's half the fun right.
if you want some smaller lures to try that dive deep, 8-10m, have a look at AC slim invader 50mm and the halco poltergiest 50mm crazy deep.
predatek boomerangs have some really deep divers.

or a bit bigger, rapala taildancer, bandit walleye deep's if you can find them.

the big rapala xraps are designed to be trolled really fast, i'm not sure how well they work at slower speeds.

be interesting to see how you go with it!

Hey Sebb, it's an old Rapala (a Mangum from 2010 I think?) - originally a three-treble but I've removed the middle one and put two larger trebles instead.
It seems quite a bit slimmer (and easier to tow!) than current Magnums - I've tried the X-Rap 15.

Stumpjumpers work on snapper and have a strong action at lower speeds.
