Black Rock

Hi Guys
Heading out tomorrow after not being able to chase the Snapper for the last two years.
Has any one fished Black Rock recently?
Launching before dawn and heading to one of my old spots in 15 meters or should I fish in close to the reef? Any recent experiences would be gratefully listened to.
The other option is to launch at Altona and head to P2, T14 as Mathew reported earlier this week.
Not after any marks just a point in the right direction.
Will post up a report tomorrow night.
Thanks !

Thanks mate.
I knew about the rain but the wind is forecast to be low and I only have one day of freedom!
It'll just good to get out.

Plenty of snapper at long reef , without the crowds.
Silver whiting tends to get the bigger fish n salmon strips
good luck

I fished at Black Rock last night mate. I tried few spots around 6-9m. Got absolutely smashed by the undersized pinkies. Silver whiting last about 1 minute and pillies never touched the bottom. If I stayed there I would have burned all my bait very quickly so pulled anchor and sounded along 15-17m for a bit but could find fish so reluctantly returned to Black Rock for more of the same. Saw a bloke near me get a good one but nothing but undersize for me. I could definitely see bigger models on the sounder but the little guys always beat them to the bait. Tried snatchers and snelled running rigs.

The thing is about Black Rock is that its really pinky spot. Whereas if you sound fish around Carrum, Fawkner, etc they'll be snapper and you just gotta play the waiting game. At Black Rock you just have to sort thru millions of the little guys and its just luck if a big fella gets to the bait first.
