Red blue with flourrescent strands added for snapper I found blue and white works great on flathead I used to make my own but have started to but ones from hook in mouth tackle.

I’ve tied my own in a handful of colour variations, and found blue, silver and red with a tiny bit of pearlescent sheet (link below) to be the best for me. https://www.troutlore.com.au/product/pe ... ne-dubbin/

Same here....Red/Blue #5 from Hook and Mouth Tackle (only last 1 session before they get blunt, but they are fairly cheap) The Black Magic are a bit over priced for what you get.

I like to judge my rigs not on quality but quality of knock off

Venom rigs for the win.

Why buy full priced rigs when you can buy them at cost price.

Yes that’s correct, about 40% blue, then 20% red, then 40% silver on each hook. I tie them in layers to keep the colours seperate, so it looks like an injured pilchard. I don’t know if that helps, but it’s what I do. After the hook is tied, I then add a long slither of the above pearlescent sheet over the crystal flash, and tie it on the same way you tie on the crystal flash (seen below). I then dab clear nail polish over the threads to make them more resistant to fish teeth, and help glue everything in place. The pearl sheet really stands out on a sunny day.
My rigs tend to last at least a few sessions, if I rinse them with fresh water after each trip. I don’t tie my own rigs to save money, it works out much the same as buying pre-tied cheap rigs. Similar to fly tying, I do it because I enjoy it, and I find it satisfying catching fish on your own rigs.
