It's looking like we'll be in and out of lockdowns until Christmas so I'm thinking I'll start hitting the water whenever I can regardless of the water temp (fingers crossed in the next week or 2!)
Why pay full price.

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Provided you're not 30km away, well after curfew, with 20 other people or a **** about it when questioned in my experience the past few weeks they've been far from stringent with 5km. Couple of quick questions through the car window where you're from etc and go our separate ways regardless of being just outside the radius. Think the cops are as over it as everyone else

Interesting my PB was on squid way up the top.cheaterparts wrote: ↑Tue Aug 10, 2021 7:20 amlast season whiting heads seam to do the trick for me up in the top end of the muddy pond - squid only seams to work catching the whiting up there -- sort of a win win thing though
and I havent started to get snapper fever it's the same gear I use for gummies anyway and normally I fish for then all over winter so the gear is always ready to go

I don't think they are that fussy and yes squid normally does the job last season though the whiting were pretty thick up in Bouchers so I got plenty and of cause I kept the heads
every time I used squid the whiting would attack the bait and on pilly banjos and squid seamed to wont it I guess thats why we take a selection of baits to tempt them
give the whiting heads a go

If restrictions don't lift until November it's going to be stupidly busy at the ramps (more agro than ever as well)...think this season may be a write off for me.

Re: 2021 Snapper Season
Sounds like they may already be starting to pop up here and there in my end of the bay.
A couple pan sizes have been caught in Queenscliff harbour, water is about 13C there - same as ocean temperature, they moved on after a few days.
Clifton Springs - Saw a few pan sized pinkies on a dive last night, they're sitting shallow amongst the rocky bottom rather than over sand/weed. Water is still cold 11C. I don't think the cooler weekend is going to help the water temps.
