The arches are barely defined, the image is way to clutter free for Westernport and the bottom lacks any real definition, even if your were on barren mud. Get rid of auto sensitivity and just use plain on manual.

Crank it up until the screen is basically full of crap, back it off a little bit so a lot crap is gone, but the stuff like those arches are fully defined.
Alright will do cheers
What depths were these in?
Taking a guess, but probably around 12m if it's the area I'm thinking of

Pretty close. Might be worth a look again?

Always in the lead-up to a full moon. And in early October for other red things. That whole area produces, there's no real magic spot.

Not being familiar with your sounder model its transducer etc it seems like the sounder is zoomed in on the bottom? They look like arches to me nut appear to be a weak return image.

Thats a zoom setting its on, i can zoom it out and see the whole water column. might just need sensitivity adjusting

Which transducer do you have, looks like it has a massive wide angle.

You need to use a lot more gain.

Bullet Transducer came with the unit.
What do you mean by using more gain?

Cheers

Gain also called sensitivity.

The hook series have three different transducer options out of the box.

Some lowrance have very wide angle transducers which is what you appear to have from the image. Wider angle provides greater coverage but poor definition and less range. Good for shallow water fish finding (great for finding snapper in 10m of water) and objects show up as large arches so they might look like monsters even though they are 40cm salmon.
