Hooked on Bait and tackle - happy customer

I just realised that I never got around to writing a quick post highlighting how happy I was with the service and attention I received when visiting hooked on Bait and tackle a month or so ago.

I popped in after work one evening to kit myself out with a couple of rods. I'm a novice when it comes to salt water fishing, but have done a fair bit of course fishing on still water before.

Even though the shop was super busy I was made very welcome and made to feel that no question was a stupid question. I wasn't pressurised to buy the top of the range stuff and was given a bit of a discount as I bought a fair amount of stuff - I didn't have any equipment so bought a couple of rods, reels, line, hooks, terminals etc.

I will definitely be returning to this shop as I left a happy customer.

P.S a few people have commented that online shops are generally cheaper, but as I was looking for advice I was happy to pay for it. Having said that, I researched online prices afterwards administration found the shop to be very competitive and in some seas cheaper than anywhere else.

Good to know they did not inflate you to more than 1 PSI.

The Hooked On shop near my place closed. Hoppers Crossing is a fair bit of a drive from my place. Where else can I find a shop?

Lol. Not sure what other shops you would have in your area.

I looked on here for good reviews and saw that hooked on Bait and tackle was on my way way home from work. I work out near lara and live newport so just skirted off m1 on way home.

When I was looking for penn prevail they were 250 plus at hooked on .....
Normal price at some online stores were 50 bucks or so cheaper.
Dont care how good the talk or chat is ,50 is big difference.

Southern sportfisher hands down smash all other retail shops. Imo

+ 1 from me also.
I also had NFI (no fishing idea) when I dropped into 'hooked on'. The owner Mike, figured this out quickly and the thru a series of questions figured out what I needed for the spots I would be fishing (new to the area) and gave me heaps of tips as well.

i agree they are not cheap, but they stock the very best stuff, for the fisho that has virtually no budget.if you could be bothered doing the research you will find that you can find some or most items cheaper online. As for me i love seeing a fantastic display of good fishing gear in front of me,especially fishing gear and gadgets that i did not know even existed.

How's a retailer to compete with online stores?
It's nice to snare a bargain but using an online service to save a few bucks will make it more difficult for tackle shops to survive.

By having an online outlet themselves. All the major online tackle stores have an associated retail store as well or the importers wouldn't supply them.
