Starting on my soft plastics career to cut down on bait !

I've started my new soft plastics lure box separately from my main tackle box, there are virtually hundreds of thousands of products out there, I'm new to this and I don't want to buy plastics that catch fishermen and fill my box unnecessarily, I want tried and true plastics that work ! I know we have some Gun plastics guys here so I'm relying on your experience, a description / size and a picture of the lure would be great, Also reasonably priced not over the top as I've seen... THX Guy's...

If you want to maximise effency of your fishing bait catches more fish.

Soft Plastics I would suggest you start with a selectrion of the Berkley range and Squidgies.

My staple is Zman Grubz 3.5in in Pearl.

If from a boat you can't go past the Berkley Gulp 5 inch Jerk Shad in Nuclear Chicken, Pilchard or Sapphire Shine. Pair that up with a 3/8th to 1oz Jig head depending on depth and you should be getting onto the pinkies and flatties no worries. Also they go well if a school of salmon show up, you can fast retrieve them like a metal.

They are perfect for beginners. Just cast them out and let them hit the bottom. Give them a couple good twitches and let it sink to the bottom and repeat.

The only reason i didn't mention Zmans is they can be a pain to rig up nice and straight if you're a beginner.

Flick bait in the pillie pattern. 3 or 4 inch size with a 1/8 or 1/6th Tt jig head has done a lot of damage for me

It depends what you're fishing for.

I love gulp turtleback worms but you go through 100's of them. The gulp curltails grubs in pumpkinseed clean up often for me. The nemisis is a great shape for bigger fish.

Other plastics are hardier and will last longer but in my experience don't get the same attention. I'm not a particularly good SFP fisho and some of the more experienced guys here probably have better answers.

My go to plastics by species

Flathead : gulp nemesis 4in pumpkin seeds, squidgy wriggler 50mm bloodworm colour
Salmon : squidgy flickbait white, size depends on baitfish and the salmon size
Pinkie : zman slim swimz midnight oil or zman grub 2.5 in motor oil. Note, they bite almost everything, caught them in the past with squidgy flickbait in both pilly and white, caught on gulp turtleback worm pumpkin seeds
Snapper : gulp nemesis 6in or gulp shad, in nuclear chicken colour.
Bream : zman grub 2in motor oil

X2 turtle back worms,
Gomuku micro jigs r good if ya wanna mix things up

If I was to fish port phillip with just one plastic it would be a 2.5" zman slim swim in bad shad, the action on these is fantastic and has accounted for a huge range of species for me.

If you want to grab something else as well a longer curl tail worm soft plastic in a green or pumpkin colour would be next up, personally I fish the jiggle fishing 4" curl worm in watermelon but there's a few out there that are similar.
