15lb Fluorocarbon leader for bream

I was wondering if using 15lb Fluro leader for soft plastics for bream is to over kill. I wanted to do this because I was scared that if I'm fishing the Anglesea river I'll get snagged and my line will snap trying to get it out if I use 8lb leader which I have. Do you think ill still get bream from the river if I use 15lb Fluro leader.

Best to use thinnest line you can get away with.
Especially bream, they can be very picky and wary.
Often pro bream fishos use like 4lb and sometimes 3lb line for a reason. You'll get more bites with thinner line.

Depends how good your knots are.... But if you're not prepared to throw away $$ on busting off snagged lures then stick to fishing baits in snaggy areas for Bream

I fish for bream with bait in a snaggy creek and I’ve found that 10lb line does the trick, I’ve lost fish on 6lb and 8lb due to having the line rub on snags but I’m yet to lose a fish on 10lb. I’ve caught 40cm bream on 20lb line using bait, it doesn’t seem to bother them, however if your fishing with plastics you’ll need to go lighter 6-8lb is probably perfect. I’d rather not get a bite using heavier line than use 4lb and leave hooks in a fish. Hope this helps mate.

You can catch bream on lures using leader that heavy but I wouldn't be targeting them with it. 8lb leader is more than enough in most situations and if the water is clear i would probably drop that down a little bit. You can put a lot of pressure on a bream with 6lb.

I am hardly a bream fisho have caught them as by catch on 12lb and chatted to tournament guys who have caught them in flattie comps on much heavier.

In the Angelsea river you just swim out to the lure and get it off the snag, make sure you bring goggles, 15lb is way too heavy for that river where the average size is about 15cm, plus not too many snags in there

How long of a leader should i be running? What's a good mono to fluro knot? Double uni?

My leader is a rod length.
Any knots is ok for thin lines, but FG seems to be the best for thicker lines for braid to fluoro, eg 20lb or more.
Not sure about mono to fluorocarbon.
